Senior Vice President, Sales
Paul Merrild has served as our Senior Vice President of Sales since joining athenahealth in 2011, where he oversees sales, strategy, and relationship management across all clients, market segments, and services. Mr. Merrild’s career spans 20 years in sales, marketing, business development and product development for health care IT and health care services organizations serving independent physician groups, hospitals and health systems. Prior to joining athenahealth, Mr. Merrild was senior vice president of marketing & business development at Merge Healthcare, a leading provider of clinical and financial solutions for image intensive specialties, from 2006 to 2011. Prior to that, Mr. Merrild oversaw large-scale domestic sales and marketing opportunities and international governmental procurements for General Electric Healthcare from 2001 to 2006. In these roles, Mr. Merrild’s responsibilities have included the strategy and execution of large scale revenue cycle, EMR, care coordination, and clinical integration solutions for leading healthcare services providers. Previously, Mr. Merrild held roles at Solucient and various consulting engagements. Mr. Merrild received his B.A. in economics and psychology from Northwestern University and his M.B.A from the University of Chicago.
